My Review

Three months ago, I reviewed the first book in the Epic series by Lee Stephen called Dawn of Destiny, a military sci-fi action adventure story about alien invasion and a crew of men and women commissioned to protect the Earth. It was a good beginning to this series, but it was the full cast audiobook version of Dawn of Destiny with soundtrack that really impressed me and brought out Stephen's novel. You can read my review of it here. If you like listening to audiobooks of the sci-fi genre, you need to try this one.

Outlaw Trigger (Epic #2) continues the story of Scott Remington, this time with more of a personal issue. Although not a regular suspense thriller reader, I found myself captivated by the plot line including the unexpected ending.

The book cover was a good choice for this novel. It foreshadows what you can expect in this book. Our hero Scott is a target to weaken earth's alliance forces and it will costs Scott dearly. His reputation and character begins to crack under pressure. An all too real story that has played out time and again during mankind's wars. Scott and his loyal friends will now need to workout their duty in defending earth and loyalty to one another while being betrayed by those among the alliance with their own agenda. And just to add to the fray, there's an ongoing war with lethal aliens.

The book's multilevel plot keeps the suspense going to the end. Well worth the read for those who like the mix of sci-fi and suspense thriller.

Note: This book is rated PG + M for depictions of war-related violence and of murder, but contains only mild instances of profanity (hell, God, etc.) and one instance of "damn."

About the Author:

Born and raised in Cajun country, Lee Stephen spent his childhood paddling pirogues through the marshes of South Louisiana. When he wasn’t catching bullfrogs or playing with alligators in the bathtub (both true), he was escaping to the world of the imagination, creating worlds in his mind filled with strange creatures and epic journeys. This hasn’t stopped.

Now a resident of Luling, Louisiana, Lee spends time every day delving into the world of Epic, the science-fiction series that has come to define him as a writer and producer. Alongside his wife, Lindsey, their sons, Levi and Lawson, and their dog, Jake, Lee has made it a mission to create a series that is unique in its genre—one unafraid to address the human condition while staying grounded in elements of faith.
