Are you planning to visit London? Then be sure to bring along Marsha Moore’s 24 Hours London—an indispensable around-the-clock guide. With it you will find something to do for any hour and any day of the year simply by turning to the page indicated for the hour you want. Great concept, don’t you think?

This handy book in a 5 X 7 format, perfect for carrying in your purse or bag, is a well-thought-out list of some of London’s coolest places to see and unique things to do. Unique? Oh, yeah. Moore covers activities that are sure to please tourists and Londoners of all ages and interests. You can visit an operating room from the 1800’s, have breakfast at The Premises, one of London’s top recording studios, stroll through an exotic secret garden, take your kids to see the traditional locking of the main gates of the Tower of London, eat a meal under the cloak of darkness at the restaurant Dans Le Noir and the list goes on and on. Over 200 pages full of things to do and experience.

What’s more, Moore includes an index so you can search by topic or name. She also has icons indicating if the listing is food-related, family-friendly, or a time-dependant activity, and she has sections that group specific activities, such as "24 Hours of Romance" or "24 Hours for 20-Somethings". Under each listing is useful information such as the full address, opening hours, website URL, contact info, the subway stop that gets you there, and entrance fee.

Moore’s engaging writing style is peppered with interesting expressions such as when speaking of jewelers she says, “Visit the flagship London store to see some true eye candy...” This book would make a great gift for the travelling-lover in your family.

Planning on visiting Paris? Stay tuned for Marsha Moore’s 24 Hours Paris, which is coming out soon. Now if only we can convince her to do a Montreal version?

  1. I've always wanted to tour England and London in particular. I'll be sure to pick up this book when I do get to go. And now that I'm writing Regencies, really, it seems a necessity, right? At least justified?

  2. I hear you, Donna! Being present in the actual places we write about makes a difference in our writing. It did for me when I placed my heroine in Rome. And this little book gave me the urge to visit London, that's for sure!
